Members of AIMS are bound by our Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions and our Professional Conduct Procedure. You must read and agree to these as part of your application process. You should also read our membership policies.

Accredited Member
LIPC qualified or equivalent
This is the highest level of membership and required members to hold both professional qualifications and also to have completed AIMS’ LIPC (Licensed Islamic Professional Counselling) course. Exceptions can be made based on similar courses or levels, and this will be assessed by AIMS when awarding this membership level).
Registered member
Level 4/Diploma Qualified of Equivalent
Registered membership is our main category for practising members and represents the minimum standards that a client should expect from a therapist. To become a registered member you must have graduated from a professional course. Registered members require full professional qualifications up to at least Level 4 or a diploma in counselling, or a similar level qualification (assessed by AIMS), and adhere to AIMS’s ethical framework and professional conduct policy.
Associate member
Abides by AIMS framework
Associate members are professionals without formal qualifications in their field, however they abide by AIMS’s ethical framework and professional conduct policy.
Student member
Working towards registered/accredited status
Student membership is tailored towards those studying for professional qualifications, aspiring to work in their field, and uphold AIMS’ ethical framework and professional conduct policy in their practice or placement.
Accredited Member
