About me

Hello, My name is Melissa McDonald, and I am the founder of Back2MyBasics coaching.
I am a certified Chronic illness and Spiritual-centered Coach
I am a revert to Islam for over 20 years, am a mother of 6 kids, a homeschooler, and a chronic illness warrior. I combine my personal life experiences with my professional training to help those who feel stuck and need a little nudge in the right direction.

My approach to coaching is rooted in the baseline of the Islamic faith. I use a solution-focused framework to equip my clients to handle any personal & spiritual difficulty or life challenges strategically and constructively. I believe that the client knows best, and coaching provides the process of self-discovery. I work collaboratively with my clients to help them identify their strengths and resources, overcome limiting beliefs, and develop practical strategies for achieving their goals. I am committed to providing a supportive and non-judgmental space for my clients to explore the internal and external parts of their true, authentic selves.

MY MISSION
To be a means that inspires my clients to ignite their natural instinct for a connection with God and to awaken the desire for personal & spiritual growth.

MY MOTTO
"If you need me but don't want me, then I will be your companion. If you want me but don't need me, then you walk your journey alone."

Training, qualifications & experience

On the Ground Experience

I have had the privilege of working with women and youth for over 20 years in various environments.

I worked as an Islamic studies teacher for both high school and elementary students. And had the opportunity to develop an Islamic Studies Curriculum that was approved by the Ministry of Education for High school in Canada.

I am the founder of FOS ( Fountain of Sisterhood) a convert support group since  2004. This platform caters to the needs of Muslim Women and Youth who convert to Islam and I help them through the initial transition process. The focus is to educate sisters about their faith specifically in the area of Aqeeda and Tawheed.  These women have access to several programs designed to help the sisters make a connection to Allah(swt) and give them a strong foundation in their faith.

I am also the founder of Call4Kindness- which is a youth-led community-based organization that services the community in areas of most need. The youth receive mentorship and leadership training to deal with the complexities of worldly issues and the struggles of day-to-day life.

I also run an E-Learning platform called SmallStepsBigMinds providing access to afterschool programs in the area of core subjects, hobbies, and life skills. This platform is open to offer youth the opportunity to teach the skills that they are good at.  Many youth are trained to design, develop, and teach programs such as coding, computer animation, public speaking, and much more.

I am also the founder of Back2myBasics coaching, which will be launching soon.
